Pentagon Announces End of the Afghanistan Evacuation — Hundreds of Americans Left Behind

The Pentagon on Monday announced the completion of the evacuation mission in Afghanistan, the end of the U.S. military presence after nearly 20 years.

Central Command Commander Marine Gen. Frank McKenzie announced in a briefing on Monday that the last U.S. military aircraft has departed from the Hamid Karzai International Airport, where the evacuation was being staged.

“I’m here to announce the completion of our withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the end of the military mission to evacuate American citizens, third-country nationals, and vulnerable Afghans,” he said.

“The last C-17 lifted off from Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 30 this afternoon at 3:29 p.m. East Coast time and the last manned aircraft is now clearing the airspace above Afghanistan,” he added.

“Tonight’s withdrawal signifies both the end of the military component of the evacuation mission, but also the end of the 20 year mission that began in Afghanistan that began shortly after September 11, 2001,” he said.

The evacuation was due to end August 31 local time.

McKenzie conceded that hundreds of Americans were left behind in the country.

“I believe our State Department is going to work very hard to allow any American citizens that are left — and we think the citizens that were not brought out number in the low — very low hundreds,” he said.

He called the evacuation mission the “largest non-combatant evacuation in the U.S. military’s history” and a “monumental accomplishment.”

He said since August 14, over a 18-day period, the U.S. military aircraft evacuated more than 79,000 civilians from the airport, including 6,000 Americans and more than 73,500 third-country nationals and Afghan civilians. He said along with coalition nations, more than 123,000 civilians were evacuated.

The mission did not conclude without American casualties. Thirteen U.S. service members were killed on Thursday after an ISIS suicide bomber got to the airport gate and blew himself up. At least 18 more were wounded.

Very low hundreds? LOW?! Listen… if you were not in Kabul.. you did not get out.. period and some in Kabul did not get out.
Carter had some 50 hostages, we had Americans hostage after Saigon fell ACTUALLY in the low ‘hundreds’… we will have a thousand held hostage in Afghanistan,,,,
And what will the Taliban do with that leverage?
I’ll bet 10 to one ‘International Recognition will be formulated.. as America is not the only country with citizens held hostage in Afghanistan.
I’ll bet within the next year China will be inserting ground to air anti aircraft missiles capable of shooting down radar avoiding aircraft.. even providing military assistance in training.. to fly… the aircraft we left.

Anyone paying any attention saw this coming… that the Taliban would have every interest in capturing as many Americans as possible.. and Biden let it happen…
that is what Biden thinks of the values of life for American citizens… you are nothing but expendable pawns.

Watching the draped caskets, I would gladly replace Biden with anyone of those heroes. Am I the only one who can’t stop crying for these families? Why do we allow this guy to remain as President? Just how does a country move forward with this fool being allowed to draw another breath. I never wished anyone dead-less Hitler and Osama- well Biden that puts you #1. Just think this Christmas, Hunter will be opening up his gifts with dear ol Joe. while our families of our dead heroes will be opening their ripped apart hearts, crying every year for the rest of their lives. Check your watch Joe, yeah you care! Die you SOB-do us all a favor and stay away from Arlington where the true heroes lie in rest. Do we even have an FBI? Just where is Durham, where is Hunter’s lap top? Why? Where is the FBI? Good Lord, look how far we have fallen with China owning the Booger eater Joe.

It doesn’t matter if one American or 1,000 are left behind, you communists are guilty of treason, each and every one, and need to face a firing squad for treason. We’re tired of all you liberal, community traitors. Prepare for civil war. Conservatives, don’t join the military until all liberal, communists are removed from our Government and country.
