President Donald Trump issued a statement on Cuba today.

“Big demonstrations are breaking out in Cuba and Miami in protest of the Communist Cuban Government (although, today there are zero protesters in Cuba—you know what that means!). Don’t forget that Biden and the Democrats campaigned on reversing my very tough stance on Cuba. Remember when Obama attended baseball games with Castros while they imprisoned, beat, and killed the Cuban people,” Trump released in a statement Monday afternoon. “I stand with the Cuban people 100% in their fight for freedom. The Government must let them speak and be free! Joe Biden MUST stand up to the Communist regime or—history will remember. The Cuban people deserve freedom and human rights! THEY ARE NOT AFRAID!”
This was Joe Biden’s statement, as we reported earlier.
“We stand with the Cuban people and their clarion call for freedom and relief from the tragic grip of the pandemic and from the decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime,” Biden said in a statement.
“The Cuban people are bravely asserting fundamental and universal rights. Those rights, including the right of peaceful protest and the right to freely determine their own future, must be respected,” Biden said.
“The United States calls on the Cuban regime to hear their people and serve their needs at this vital moment rather than enriching themselves.”
So notice the things present in Trump’s statement that aren’t in Joe Biden’s statement. Trump actually calls out how the government has oppressed the people in the past, and that they are trying to shut down the protests now (hence the empty streets). He says that Biden must stand up to the Communist regime (mentioning the “C” word). He says the people deserve their freedom and echoes their call — that they are “not afraid” — echoing the chant in the street, so that they know he has heard what they are saying and is giving support.
Trump also notes how when Barack Obama visited Cuba, he went to a baseball game with Raul Castro while dissidents were being beaten. Indeed, that’s correct. Not only that, but Obama did the wave with Raul Castro as well, no joke.

Obama also stood at attention at the Che Guevara monument, a very bad look for a U.S. president.

By comparison, while Trump didn’t go to Cuba, he visited with Cuban dissidents in June 2017 and condemned the Communist regime.
“Many of you witnessed terrible crimes committed in service of a depraved ideology. You saw the dreams of generations held by captive, and just, literally, you look at what happened and what communism has done. You knew faces that disappeared, innocents locked in prisons, and believers persecuted for preaching the word of God,” Trump said in packed, hot room. “You watched the Women in White bruised, bloodied, and captured on their way from Mass. You have heard the chilling cries of loved ones, or the cracks of firing squads piercing through the ocean breeze.”
“The exiles and dissidents here today have witnessed communism destroy a nation, just as communism has destroyed every single nation where it has ever been tried,” he continued. “But we will not be silent in the face of communist oppression any longer. You have seen the truth, you have spoken the truth, and the truth has now called us, this group, called us to action.”
This nails it, unlike the Democrats who prefer to prop up Communists or not call them out by name. Unfortunately, this is what the Cuban people need now but instead, they have Grandpa Disaster, Joe Biden. Let’s hope that their people power and God help them to freedom anyway, because I’m not sure what help they’re going to get from Biden.
